Fresh, seasonal ingredients combining in perfect harmony

IT’S NEW season, new menu at Caffé Grande Piccolino. You can still expect quality ingredients from respected suppliers but dishes have a new autumnal slant.

The combination of braised lamb and root vegetables is a satisfying treat that will keep the frost at bay

Favourites such as the salumeria with its cold meats and cheeses are still there but you can also enjoy a wide range of exciting new dishes.

Tempting new starters include Bruschetta miste and cozze allo zafferano – an indulgent, creamy celebration of mussels and saffron, along with all year round favourite - the antipasti di terra e montagne which includes such delights as fennel salami, parma ham, bresaola, buffalo mozzarella and gorgonzola. It’s  a real testament to the beauty of Italian ingredients.

The superb bolognese for which Piccolino is famed is paired with gnocchi for a cosy new dish that’s rich, warming and perfect for Autumn. There are plenty of other tempting new seasonal creations such as rigatoni con manzo, a hearty slow-braised beef ragú with pasta or anatra, crispy duck with glazed apples.

When the leaves turn and the weather gets colder, spezzatino di agnello will hit the spot. The combination of braised lamb and root vegetables is a satisfying treat that will keep the frost at bay.

Of course, if you look to Italy to bring you a ray of sunshine, you can still order light and lovely dishes like spaghetti scoglio, reminiscent of the Riviera with its mix of mussels, clams, prawns, squid, white wine and tomato

Desserts are equally lovely with the torta di passione, a beautiful passion fruit cheesecake, designed especially for the new menu.
