The pair will discuss their joint commitment to the North at Manchester Central

FORMER United and England footballer turned property developer Gary Neville is to appear top of the bill at this year's Northern Restaurant and Bar show (NRB) on Tuesday 21 March at Manchester Central, alongside Michelin starred chef Michael O'Hare - who was recently appointed Creative Director of Neville's hospitality firm, GG Hospitality.

The pair will discuss how their ambition and commitment to the North will have a unique impact on the region's hospitality industry, following the launch of space-age Asian fine dining restaurant Rabbit In The Moon (reviewed here) on the top floor of the National Football Museum, and before the launch of their latest restaurant project in the renovated Stock building on Norfolk Street.

The North's largest hospitality industry exhibition returns for its seventeenth year, bringing together the great and good of the industry, from chefs to restaurateurs, hoteliers to vintners, mixologists to greengrocers, creating a space where they can share new ideas, identify new business opportunities, enter industry-led competitions and source new products.

This year, NRB expects to welcome over 7,500 industry visitors over the two day event (21-22 March) which incorporates 300 exhibitors showcasing thousands of products as well as 65 live demos from big name guests, local food and drink producers and the industry’s up-and-coming talent.

The Chef Live Theatre is always a popular draw for the event, as audiences enjoy the opportunity to watch chefs at the top of their game cooking signature dishes step-by-step for a professional audience. Guest Chefs this year include the often heard and seldom seen Gary Usher who will be demonstrating a dish from the menu of his latest crowdfunded opening, Hispi in Didsbury.

Head Chef at The French at The Midland Hotel, and winner of the North West heat of last year's BBC Great British MenuAdam Reid, will also cook one of his signature dishes. This year, visitors will be able to see Michelin starred chef Rupert Rowley from Fisher's at Baslow Hall and former L'enclume executive chef Mark Birchall who is now chef patron at Moor Hall, a stunning Grade II listed 16th century house in Aughton, Lancashire, due to open in March 2017.

NRB will also reveal their prestigious NRB Top Fifty Awards at the event, in association with Kuits Solicitors, which celebrate the fifty top northern hospitality operators as well as three outstanding achievement winners.

Surrounding the exhibition will be a programme of hospitality events hosted by organisations including Pro-Manchester, Action Against Hunger and CityCo.

Tickets to the NRB debate cost £55 plus VAT, which includes a buffet lunch. Entry to the Northern Restaurant and Bar Show is free to hospitality professionals who have registered in advance.
