Dan Nightingale headlines with three more brilliant comedians (and one gobby food writer)
THE Confidential x Impossible Comedy Night (aka Nothing Comperes to Gordo) returns on Thursday 27 September after its packed-out debut in July.
Our comedy-o-metre measured that night at 70% funny, but you can't have highs without lows as they say. And those lows. Less said, the better. We all came out stronger for it.
This month we're aiming for 95% funny with a four-act line-up of proven comedy talent. (That missing 5% is for Gordo who's used up most of his jokes already – don't worry, he won't be on for long.)
The line-up
The four acts promise pitch-perfect storytelling and punch-line after punch-line. The headliner is Dan Nightingale who we're really excited to host after his solo show got a fantastic reception at Edinburgh Fringe this summer. Here's a few lines from one of the rave reviews:
“There’s long been a sense that Dan Nightingale doesn’t get his dues as a comic, that he’s good enough to be bigger than he is. Well, his hidden gem status is confirmed here, because he’s got a genuinely hilarious show that comedians far more famous than him would be proud of.”
Also performing will be James Allen, fresh from gigs at Edinburgh Fringe and Latitude Festival. Expect dry humour and calm, reserved delivery. He's just graduated from the comedy writing school at Salford Uni (where former graduates include Peter Kay and Jason Manford) and is definitely one to watch.
The opening act will be the hilarious Simon Wozniak who's a regular on the Manchester comedy circuit and won 'New Act of the Year' at Nottingham Comedy Festival in 2016.
Holding it all together will be top-class compere Dave Williams who was a hit at our first comedy night. Very fast, very funny, and a little bit brutal: don't sit at the front if you're a sensitive type.
