New restaurant offers to feed volunteer taste testers for half price

BISTROTHEQUE, the restaurant which forms part of CULTUREPLEX, a new social and cultural destination at Ducie Street Warehouse, has announced it’s to hold a soft launch period ahead of its official opening on September 19th.

Bistrotheque’s ethos has always been to offer uncomplicated good food, drinks and service with common sense and good taste

Located on the edge of Manchester’s Northern Quarter on the Western end of Ducie Street, CULTUREPLEX overlooks the Piccadilly Basin in a former goods warehouse, becoming the latest of the city’s heritage buildings to take on a new purpose. As well incorporating the restaurant, CULTUREPLEX features a lounge, coffee counter called Klatch, events spaces with outdoor terraces and a cinema.

Bistrotheque’s original site in Hackney, East London, opened in 2004  - years before it became the hot spot for trendy restaurant it is now. It’s success led founders Pablo Flack and David Waddington (both good northern lads originally) to open Hoi Polloi in Shoreditch and then follow up with a second in 2013 in the nearby Ace Hotel.

Bistrotheque’s ethos has always been to offer uncomplicated good food, drinks and service with common sense and good taste and good news is that the Manchester offshoot is expected to be no different.

The restaurant will be open for dinner seven days a week and will offer brunch at weekends, with all menus under the exacting eye of Bistrotheque’s Chef Director Blaine Duffy.

In return for helping to test things out, diners will be charged half price during the soft launch period which will run from September 3rd – 8th with 50% off all bills, in return for filling in a feedback form. To book a table, sign up to the CULTUREPLEX mailing list to receive a booking link.

A soft launch for the Lounge and Klatch at CULTUREPLEX will also start on September 3rd. Klatch is a coffee counter by day, with a ‘healthy(ish)’ ready to go offer that flips into a craft beer and natural wine stand by night. Healthy (ish) because there’s the odd indulgent toastie and sugary cake alongside their complex carbs and plant based options.

The Lounge is in the heart of the space, where a CULTUREPLEX newspaper acts as a food and drink bible, broken down into Morning, Afternoon & Evening, table served to wherever guests decide to flop down and plug in. Eating and drinking in the lounge will always be informal, democratically priced and top notch.

Soft launch for the Lounge and Klatch will run in both the afternoon and evening from the 3rd, adding in breakfast sessions from the 10th.
