The fourth annual beery knees-up will run over two weekends

It’s October and that means colder temperatures and shorter days, but it also means beer. That’s right – Oktoberfest returns to Leeds for a fourth year, and we’re assured it’s going to be better than ever. It’s definitely going to be bigger – running over two weekends: the one coming, Thursday 10 to Saturday 12 October, and the one after, on the Friday and Saturday.

Tickets for the first weekend selling like hot Kuchen as demand for German pints and pretzels remains as high as ever

Last year saw over 14,000 people attending Yorkshire’s biggest Oktoberfest and it looks to be no different this time around, with tickets for the first weekend selling like hot Kuchen as demand for German pints and pretzels remains as high as ever. This year welcomes on board multi-award winning Bavarian Ayinger Brewery from near Munich, the birthplace of Oktoberfest.

Of course, not everyone loves beer – it’s odd, but true. And for those of you who can’t stomach a Stein, there’s wine, Prosecco and a range of soft drinks to get your laughing gear around while you enjoy singing along to Oompah band the Bavarian Strollers.

Get in the spirit of Oktoberfest with lederhosen and lots of beer

A spokesperson for the festival team says: “One of our favourite times of year, we can’t wait to host two epic Oktoberfest weekends for all our guests here in Leeds. We’re super-excited to reveal our new venue, which we will be transforming into the perfect backdrop for the biggest and best beer-drinking, bratwurst-eating party in the North of England.”

In a brand-new location, Temple Arches is a new blank canvas space in South Bank, which will host the Bavarian big top tent, kitted out in Oktoberfest decor. Sound like your thing? Bag yourself a ticket for one of the sessions soon to avoid being down in the Deutschland dumps. Prost!

Open Thursday 10 October and Fridays 11 and 18 October 5-11pm and Saturdays 12 and 19 October 12-5pm and 6-11pm at Temple Arches, 13 Globe Road, Holbeck, Leeds, LS11 5QG. Full details and tickets here.
