It's worth taking a trip to the Nomadic Beers brewery this Saturday

WANDER over to the Nomadic Beers taproom this weekend for an all-day party to mark the independent brewery’s three-year anniversary. On Saturday 11th January, the doors will be open in Sheepscar from noon, giving you the chance to sample their wares at source.

It’s fantastic to have come this far in three years. It doesn’t seem a minute ago since Ross and I set up the brewery!

Brewing vegan and vegetarian-friendly ales since February 2017, Nomadic’s core range of Bandit, Pale and Strider has since been joined by specials including No More Heroes, Treason and the chocolate orange stout Itza, along with collaborations such as Loose Nut with the likes of Glossop-based Distant Hills.

Owner Katie Marriott and head brewer Ross Nicholson started Nomadic in the Burley Street Brewhouse downstairs at Leeds pub Fox & Newt, expanding last summer when they took on the Rose & Crown in Bradford’s Sunbridge Wells Underground Quarter.

“The equipment there [Burley Street] is the oldest working brew kit in Leeds and we were able to work on our recipes and put a core range together,” says Ross.

“It was great working on that brew kit, but we outgrew it and in 2019, we moved to our brewing premises in Sheepscar. Bigger space, bigger brew kit and a lot more flexibility in what we could do,” says Katie. “The pub is a fantastic opportunity for us and fits really well with the Nomadic Beers brand. We’ve had some fantastic feedback from beer drinkers in Bradford and it’s great that we’ve been made to feel so welcome in the city.”

Cheers! Nomadic Beers celebrates three years of brewing

With logos and design created especially for Nomadic Beers by illustrator Christine Jopling based on a Vegvisir - an Icelandic wayfinder - and an invitation to ‘Quench your wandering thirst’, Katie continues: “It’s fantastic to have come this far in three years. It doesn’t seem a minute ago since Ross and I set up the brewery!

“On 11th January, we are celebrating turning three years old by opening our brewery doors for a party. We’ll of course have beer, plus food, snacks, soft drinks and live music. Nomadic Beers is a family and pet friendly space; everyone is invited to the party!”
